Abstrak

Background: Renal dysfunction levels seem to correlate with levels of cognitive impairment. Thus, patients with CKD seemed to have at least double the increased risk of cognitive impairment than those who did not. Purpose: To determine the relation of chronic kidney disease (CKD) severity level toward the cognitive impairment in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Method: This study used an analytic observational research method with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 177 respondents taken with consecutive sampling techniques. Data analysis is performed with Spearman rank test. Results: Based on the results of the study, respondents who underwent hemodialysis mostly in stage 5 with 107 respondents (60%) with the majority of respondents experiencing mild cognitive impairment 107 respondents (60%). Statistical test results show signification value p=0.00 ( = 0.05). Conclusion: Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that there was a correlation between the chronic kidney disease (CKD) severity level and the cognitive impairment in patients undergoing hemodialysis.
