Abstrak

Hypertension is a condition in which a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal, both systolic and or diastolic pressure, an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension is a silent killer because in most cases it does not show any symptoms until one day hypertension can become a stroke and heart attack which causes the sufferer to die. The symptom that often appears in people with hypertension is pain in the back of the neck. One of the interventions that can be given to patients with hypertension is non-pharmacological therapy, namely Slow Deep Breathing. The aim is to provide a relaxing effect and lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The methodology of this study used nursing care by case study approach. The study was conducted over 3 days to a male patient aged 52 years with a medical diagnosis of hypertension given Slow Deep Breathing therapy twice a day. Before slow deep breathing therapy, the patient's blood pressure was 149/105 mmHg and after being given Slow Deep Breathing therapy, it was obtained 135/79 mmHg. Evaluation of the implementation that has been carried out, obtaining the result that there is a decrease in blood pressure after being given Slow Deep Breathing therapy. The conclusion of this case study is that Slow Deep Breathing therapy has been proven to be able to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
