Abstrak

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that there are 16-33 million cases of fever in the world, with 500-600 thousand deaths each year. Overcoming the problem of fever in toddlers, the desired medical and non-medical treatment can be done. The most common decision made by parents, especially during the COVID- 19 pandemic, is to choose alternative or traditional treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence Parental decisions in choosing traditional treatment for fever in toddlers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 163 people with purposive sampling as a sampling technique. Samples were taken as many as 126 people. Collecting data through a questionnaire Health Belief Model modified by Spearman Rho and Fisher Exact Test analysis. The results showed of research on age, education level, gender, economy, knowledge, perceived benefits, perceived barriers and family experience in decision making, 8 of the 9 factors are interrelated and only one is the age factor which is not related on parental decision making with p value (0.804) > 0.005. Even though, parents should still consider the decision in choosing the right treatment for children because Parental decisions greatly affect the child's growth and development process.
