Abstrak

Pruritus (itching) is the most common skin symptom, seen in many skin complaints that cause discomfort and changes in skin integrity when the patient responds to scratching. It is an uncomfortable feeling on the skin and sometimes interferes with the patient's quality of life.The most common skin symptom is pruritus (itching), which causes discomfort and changes in skin integrity if the patient responds to scratching. This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of understanding and behavior with the level of pruritus in scabies at Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School For Female. The population in this study was 1300 people with a sample size of 306 people obtained by purposive sampling technique then with a sample of 42 people with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of bivariate analysis showed that of the 42 respondents, 24 respondents (57.1%) had a less level of understanding and 33 respondents (78.6%) had a less of behavior and the results of student level of pruritus as many as 27 respondents (64.3%) were severe pruritus . The results of the analysis using Spearman Rank show that there is a relationship between the two variables (p-value = 0.002 < a 0.05) and (p-value = 0.000 < a 0.05), and the correlation between level of understanding with level of pruritus is moderate with a value of r = -0.567 and the correlation between behavior with level of pruritus is weak with a value of r = -0.387. This study concluded that the level of understanding and the level of behavior is very influential on a person's pruritus level. The level of pruritus will decrease if a person can apply clean and healthy living behavior through his understanding and behavior towards scabies.
