Abstrak

Urgent or emergency situations are life-threatening and require immediate help. Fractures become an emergency situation if not treated quickly and appropriately. Firefighters volunteer must have the necessary knowledge to care for someone who has a broken bone. Knowledge of first aid is important for everyone, especially firefighters volunteer, as it can prevent worsening conditions and even death. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of splint training toward knowledge enhancement of fire fighters volunteer in handling fracture victim. This research employs a one-group, pre-experimental pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken by the researcher is the same as the population of active members of the MG-Elang Fire Department as many as 30 members of the MG-Elang firefighter volunteers with total sampling technique Collecting data through a questionnaire and splint standard operating procedure by Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. The results showed of research on age, education level, occupation, level of knowledge of fire-fighters volunteer about splint before and after being given training. The results on this research also showed there was a significant increase in knowledge before and after the splint training the Asymp. Sig. value (2-tailed) or a p value of 0.000, statistically means <α (p value <α (0.05)) which means that there is an effect of splint training on the level of knowledge of volunteer firefighters in handling fracture victims.
