Abstrak

Supervision performed by a head nurse is an activity that provides direction and guidance to improve nursing care quality. In indonesia, there is still little information that reveals in depth how the head nurse conducts supervision. this study aims to explore various experinces of head nurses in implementing supervision by using a qualitative method winth a phenomenological approach at Ratu Zalecha Hospital. the data were collected by in-depth interviews with six head nurse as participansts , selected by a purposive sampling technique. Four themes were identified by thematic analysis, namely, the perception of self-performance as a head nurse, the process of supervision, obstacles faced in implementing supervision, and the expecations desired of supervision activities. Based on the findings, the head nurses were aware of the capabilities required in supervision, and also the importance of increased support from directors of nursing of the application of effective supervision.
